Back on Track - December Motivation and ChaLENE Extreme

I am really excited!! I always get this way each month when its time to start a new challenge group!  If you aren't sure what that is... then you should join!  It is a private virtual support group consisting of people who want support, motivation, recipes, accountability, friendships, and more!  Its my favorite thing to do because it works - you don't have to do this alone! Why hesitate to use a coach..look at these millionaire athletes, they make $25 million last year for hitting a ball, do you think he tells his coach, "nah, I got this."  NO!  He is always trying to improve and get better. With it being Christmas time, I really want to stay on point with my diet and nutrition. I chose this program because it lays out exactly what to eat.  I always look through at what is closest to what I already eat.  Its really important to be realistic with your diet, if you see a recipe for roasted duck that is nutritious but takes 1 1/2 hours to prepare - start thinking!  Do you actually have time to prepare that!  I know that I don't. I am a busy working mom of a 1 year old. I choose a lot of chicken recipes because first of all 1) I like chicken and 2) I can grill a big batch of chicken on Sunday and then add it to various meals throughout the week  3) I need to look at meals that are easily adaptable to what my son will eat too .  My only difference is that I have to do the workouts out of order since I am teaching 3 classes a week, I don't want to burn out or do too much. I am going to drop one of the Chalene Workouts a week and replace with my Total Body Sculpt class that I teach on Wednesdays.  

Chalene Extreme comes with a huge recipe book of over 80 recipes and says - Here- Choose from these recipes in the Burn Cycle for Breakfast, Choose from these in the Lean Cycle, etc.  Its easy and honestly, they aren't overly complicated.  

One thing I like to do on Sundays is meal plan.  My week is busy, like I'm sure most of yours are too. When I am in a rush or worse, when I am starving, I go for what is right in front of me and that could be JUNK!  When I have a meal plan, I print it out and take it with me in my planner all week and keep a copy on my fridge.  Meal planning used to be really challenging to me because I didn't know what to eat or how much or what 4 oz looks like.   This makes it easy because  its normal food just gives you the appropriate amount of nutrition to build muscle, not be hungry all day and then you know exactly what to eat.
When I  started at home workouts, I started with the 21 Day Fix because it provides easy portion control containers and 30 minute workouts.  Now that I am starting another program, I remember that feeling of starting my first program.  The nervousness, excitement, the wanting of this program to "work." I can prepare, I can have the mindset, I can get pumped up about it, but the ONE thing that ALWAYS keeps me on track is support.  Do you know why that is the reason most people fail their new year fitness goals?  It is because they don't have support.  Lots of peoples spouses, family, kids, don't support YOU because they think they will have to only eat salads or the food won't be tasteful.  I am  here to tell you that there are a TON of family recipes that are EASY, taste DELICIOUS, and CHANGING YOUR DIET WILL GET YOU TO YOUR GOALS.  Through my online challenge groups I can provide you with support, help you with meal planning, provide easy recipes, daily check ins for your workouts, and be your COACH.  Here is my meal plan for the week!

Thanksgiving Week - Meal Plan - Staying on Track - Avoid Overeating !!

Good Evening Friends -  It is HERE. The week of Thanksgiving.  For most of us that means, traveling, being on a different schedule, shortened work weeks, and of course LOTS and LOTS of food.



I'm definitely human just like all of you.. I will enjoy the day... that doesn't mean eating everything in site but enjoying some special things you don't get to have the rest of the year and some good drinks while your at it. I'll give you some tips and tricks that I use to ensure that this week doesn't throw off all of the hard work that I have been doing this past month.  I'll share my meal plan and workouts of course.  Next week - December 1st - I am starting the Countdown to Christmas.  It is 25 days of workouts, eating clean, and NOT waiting until January 1st to start your new healthy lifestyle.    



First, let me share my meal plan for the week. I'll be eating lots of fresh fruit and veggies along with some lean protein  and no cheats till Thursday.

My Amazing Chicken recipe can be found here.  It is one of those recipes that I used to make all the time and totally forgot about. Now that I've made it, I had it 2x last week and its on the menu again this week. Its really easy and yummy too.  



So with Thursday being Thanksgiving, I personally know that I will indulge a little.  Here are some tips to avoid overeating on Thanksgiving Dinner.  Hopefully you will enjoy it and realize its just one day a year!  Countdown to Christmas Fitness, Food, And Motivation Group Starts December 1st!!



Step 1: Don't go to dinner starving. I think we all know once we reach starvation mode we end up eating everything around.  Have a normal breakfast and lunch and go to dinner moderately hungry.

Step 2: Survey whats there.  Look around the kitchen or the table and see whats offered. What do you really want?!!  If its extra stuffing or sweet potatoes ( ME!) then don't fill up on buttered bread and extra gravy (not worth it to me).  Those foods don't get me excited for a delicious cheat meal.
Step 3: Take small amounts.  Remember you can go back for seconds if you really love something.  My guess is that you will be full and won't want to eat like a maniac. 



Step 4: Drinks!  You know that water is best for you. But if you're like me - then this also means wine will be around. I know I want to have a glass or 2 of wine too.  Again, take a look around, is a glass of wine better worth more than 4 cups of stuffing. It is to me.  

Step 5:  Eat Slow.    Enjoy what you are eating, don't shovel it all in!  If you finish it all, stop, chat, have some water, share a story.  Wait a second before you pile your plate high again!

Step 6:  Enjoy!  Its just one day a year. Enjoy it and join me for my Countdown to Christmas group that starts December 1st!  Last chance to enter!!  



So, moral of the story. Even if you over do it. Its not the end of the world.  You're not alone, the average person eats about 3,000 calories more than most eat in an entire day.  Its better to realize it wasn't your best day, think positive and plan for the future. Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

What do you crave on a Friday night?!  I know I want something "junk food" related?!  I didn't want to blow my diet so I found this recipe on line. I adapted a little for what I had in my fridge of course.  This made a crispy treat with a little kick!  I hope you enjoy!!!





Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 7 cups of chopped cauliflower florets
  • 3/4 cup Franks Hot Sauce
  • 1 tbsp melted unsalted butter



Directions:

Preheat the oven to 450°F. Lightly spray a large non-stick baking sheet with oil.

Combine the water, flour, and garlic powder in a bowl and stir until well combined.

Coat the cauliflower pieces with the flour mixture and place on the baking sheet; bake for 20 minutes.





While the cauliflower is baking, combine the hot sauce and butter in a small bowl.

Pour the hot sauce mixture over the baked cauliflower and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes.

Amazing Chicken Recipe

This chicken recipe is great for the whole family. It is easy to prepare, is really moist, and the whole family will enjoy!  No one has to know how healthy it is too!!  



Ingredients:

4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts


5 ounce container 0% plain Greek yogurt
1/2 
cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
teaspoon seasoning salt
teaspoon garlic powder
dash of ground black pepper



Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Combine yogurt, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings.
  • Spread over chicken breasts. Bake for 45 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and topping is browned. Serve immediately.


This whole recipe took about 5 minutes to prepare!  Hope you enjoy!

Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

HealthIER Buffalo Chicken Dip


OMG.. Isn't Buff Chic Dip, as I like to call it, THE BEST!!  Ugh - I could eat the whole thing with a big bag of chips... I'm in heaven!!!

But---- ITS SOOO BAD FOR YOU -- I was on a quest, there must be a healthier version!!

Here it is... I can attest, its amazing! I took it to a work event and it was the only dish that was GONE, thank you very much - YUM.

Ingredients:

2 -3large frozen  chicken breasts
4 oz low fat cream cheese (room temp)
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt
1/2 cup  and 1/2 cup of red hot ( I used Franks)
1 ranch seasoning packet

The night before:
I put the frozen chicken breasts in the crock pot and sprinkled the ranch packet over the chicken.  I then poured 1/2 cup of red hot over the breasts. I cooked it on low for 7 hours.

In the morning:
I shredded the chicken with 2 forks.
Then I dumped out any extra red hot (leave it if you like really spicy dip)
I added the remaining ingredients (blue cheese, cream cheese, greek yogurt, red hot)
Cook on low for 4 hours

Serve with sliced celery.

Eat some now because you won't have any leftovers at the party!

So, the whole reason for my blog post is that Kim  wrote about the importance of Thinking Small in November and shopping through local businesses and Direct Sellers to have a greater impact in your own community.  She chose ME to highlight on her blog.  Thanks so much Kim - I'm honored! 


Here is a piece of the article here -It can definitely be a juggling act to run your own home based business, but Kerri has found that working her business has had lots of positive impact on her and her family.

I asked what she thought the biggest impact was to them so far, and she replied:

I think the biggest thing for me was starting to drink Shakeology.
